Folklife Sessions at MBC Cherry St: Mirta Wymerszberg

Mirta Wymerszberg, born and raised in Buenos Aires, leads Sol de Noche, a band that offers a repertoire focused on Tango, and other folk forms from Argentina, including zambas, chacareras, vidalas, valses, milongas, candombes. The core of the band is a duo with a guitar and Mirta on flute, Vocals, and bandoneon; it can expand with upright bass and percussion. The band plays some original songs from Mirta, where her own lyrics meander the Argentinian contemporary folk melodies and rhythms. Mirta is twice the recipient of the City Artist Grant (Seattle Arts & Culture) and has recently released her third album “El Rio de la Vida”. Mirta Wymerszberg
